Alghero

Alghero"Little Barcelona", capital of the Coral Riviera

Alghero started out as a small fishing village and has developed over time thanks to tourism – its expansion no doubt facilitated by the fact that Fertilia International Airport is located just a few miles away. Alghero's culture and traditions have remained intact over the centuries, preserving the features that were shaped during the period of Catalan domination, and the local people are exceptionally welcoming.
The old town is particularly fascinating and picturesque, and is home to a multitude of restaurants, cafes and bars. It is the quaintest of the tourist hotspots on the Coral Riviera, the coastline of which is renowned for its isolated bays, inlets that open up to reveal beaches fringed with lush pine forests, and jagged cliffs lapped by the emerald-green sea.
